West Indies Cricket Team manager and formal captain of West Indies Clive Lloyd has described South African allrounder Shaun Pollock as an “outstanding cricketer and person” who plays the game in the “right spirit”.
Lloyd, the legendary Test captain, spoke highly of the former South African skipper, who announced his retirement from international cricket on Friday night – after the second day of the third Test at Sahara Stadium, Kingsmead.
“He has given great service to South African cricket and world cricket. He is a true professional and has been a role model for cricketers and sportsmen around the world,” Lloyd said of the 34-year-old.
“From the time I first met him he has always been an outstanding cricketer and person. He is an honest, dedicated and committed performer, who plays the game in the right spirit and maintains very high standards.”
