Younis Khan once again buzzed his career within a week after withdrawing from the ongoing test tour of New Zealand. Khan indicated that he would be available for the series against Australia that will begin with the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne.
On the occasion of the launch of Pakistan and Australia Test series in England next summer, Younis has informed PCB about his willingness to play in Australia. He further said that he would soon be featuring in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy - Pakistan's premier first-class cricket tournament - to regain his form.
Younis was struggling to find his lost form during the three-match one-day series against New Zealand earlier this month in United Arab Emirates (UAE) – which he lost in ICC Champions Trophy, South Africa. Therefore requested the PCB for a break from International Cricket and hence will skip Test series against New Zealand.
The veteran batsman had resigned from captaincy in protest at match-fixing allegations made against the team by a senior member of parliament, which was later have been widely rejected as untrue. However, the PCB refused to accept his resignation and appointed him captain till 2011 World Cup.
