Tigers 'unlikely' to play first ever D/N Test with pink balls

Bangladesh cricket team may not be able to play the first ever Day Night Test match with pink ball. This was revealed by Neil Priscott, the MCC's media manager.

"In researching the pink ball, we will of course present our findings and discuss this matter with both the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the coming months," Priscott said from Lord's.

"However, MCC would not want to jeopardise the integrity of Test match cricket by using untested or unproven cricket balls so it looks highly unlikely at this stage that the England vs Bangladesh Test match at Lord’s next May will be played under lights,” Priscott added.

Rahul Dravid, the top Indian scorer in the ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka (Ahmedabad), has been assigned (by the MCC) the job of lobbying for the pink balls in practice matches in India. "In July, MCC’s World Cricket Committee Members were unanimous in calling for the pink ball to be trialled extensively around the world, and committed to helping with MCC’s efforts in making this happen."

Elaborating further, Priscott added, "for example, Steve Waugh ensured that the pink ball was used in February’s bushfire charity match in Sydney. In addition, Shaun Pollock will be speaking to the authorities in South Africa to push for trials of the ball in domestic cricket and other Committee Members, such as Rahul Dravid, will be testing the balls in practice", Priscott further added.

Dravid was the only founding member of the MCC World Cricket Committee still playing. Alongside South African batsman Greame Smith he has worked for UNICEF's global campaign supporting children affected by AIDS.
