Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hinted out the resumption of bilateral cricketing ties with Pakistan in near future but no series is possible in next six to seven months as there are no dates available, the Indian Board said after a meeting with the PCB chairman.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB )chairman Ejaz Butt is currently in India in an effort to resume cricketing ties with India, but Rajiv Shukla, the BCCI vice-president, said India have no space to fit in a fixture. "At the moment India's calendar is crammed but we will resume talks with Pakistan in six to seven months," said Shukla.
Immediately after the ongoing one-day international series against Australia, India to host Sri Lanka for a Test and limited-over series thereafter South Africa are due to tour early next year. Followed by the third edition of Indian Premier League and the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean are scheduled thenceforth.
India has suspended bilateral ties with Pakistan since the Mumbai terror attacks last November and cancelled a their scheduled tour to Pakistan earlier this year. "We have to ensure the Indian government's point of view. The diplomatic relations between the two countries also needs to be conducive for the talks to resume," Shukla added.
Butt met his Indian counterpart Shashank Manohar on the sidelines of the fourth ODI between India and Australia and sought resumption of cricketing ties that was snapped in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks last year.
"However, a bilateral series would depend on how relations between the two countries are at that point in time," Shukla said. "Hopefully, the relations are cordial and peaceful and government will give us permission. For now there is no possibility of playing against Pakistan."
