Sri Lanka recalled Welegedara for India tour

Left-arm paceman Chanaka Welegedara has been recalled into the Sri Lanka Test squad against India while uncapped wicketkeeper Kaushal Silva and middle-order batsman Thilina Kandamby were also named in the test squad.

All-rounder Muthumudalige Pushpakumara is a new face in the Twenty20 squad while fast bowler Dilhara Fernando has been recalled to the ODI-party after returning from injury, taking the place of Dammika Prasad. The uncapped Chinthaka Jayasinghe and Muthumudalige Pushpakumara called up to the Twenty20 squad after impressing performances in the domestic circuit.

Pushpakumara has scored 241 runs in 18 domestic Twenty20 matches at a strike rate of 106 and has captured 26 wickets with his off-spin bowling whereas Jayasinghe, a 31-year-old batsman, has a strike rate of 135 in a 22-match domestic Twenty20 career.

Sri Lanka are schedule to play three Tests, five ODIs and two twenty20 games and the tour starts with a three-day practice against an Indian all-star XI on November 11.

Test Squad: Kumar Sangakkara (captain), Muttiah Muralitharan, Mahela Jayawardene, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Tharanga Paranavitana, Thilan Samaraweera, Angelo Mathews, Thilina Kandamby, Prasanna Jayawardene, Kaushal Silva, Chanaka Welegedara, Thilan Thushara, Nuwan Kulasekara, Dammika Prasad, Rangana Herath, Ajantha Mendis.

ODI Squad: Kumar Sangakkara (captain), Muttiah Muralitharan, Mahela Jayawardene, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Chamara Kapugedera, Thilina Kandamby, Upul Tharanga, Angelo Mathews, Thilan Samaraweera, Sanath Jayasuriya, Lasith Malinga, Dilhara Fernando, Thilan Thushara, Nuwan Kulasekara, Ajantha Mendis.
