Andy Bichel, Former Australian Test fast bowler brought curtains to his first-class cricket after 17 seasons. Bichel's past few years have been insolvent by injuries including major shoulder surgery which has bunged him returning to play for his beloved Queensland Bulls.

"I don’t want to let anyone down," Bichel told a press conference. "It[the shoulder] is good enough for grade cricket, but I didn’t want to get out there[for Queensland] and not do what I used to do. I've battled probably all season with injury and probably come to the realisation that I probably won't get back to play for Queensland this year," he said.

Former captain Steve Waugh's favourite subordinate, Bichel, captured 58 Test wickets at 32.24 and hit 355 runs with a highest score of 71. He finished the tournament with 16 wickets at a remarkable 12.31, however, finishes as Queensland's second-most prolific Sheffield Shield bowler of all-time with his 430 wickets just 11 behind best mate Michael Kasprowicz.

Bichel played 176 matches for Queensland[98 first-class and 78 one dayers] and was a member of four first-class championship teams and three one-day title-winning sides for his state.

Former Test captain Steve Waugh recently rated Bichel and opener Justin Langer as his two favourite teammates because "they gave their all for Australia". In a letter from Waugh to Bichel published in the paceman's recently-released biography, `No Bull', the captain wrote that he inspired many through his team-first `attitude, dedication and X-factor'. "As a captain, it would have been a dream to have 10 of you, and that's the highest compliment I can pay anyone," Waugh wrote.
